Bölüm 781: Bu Herif Sinirimi Bozuyor
Two hours later, Alex’s army moved closer to the ant nest.
At that moment, the ants finally registered them as a threat, prompting them to immediately start forming ranks in response.
The two sides then faced off, but the initiative was on the elven army’s side.
Unlike the ants, who only had close and mid-range capabilities, the elves, on the other hand, had...
"Fire!" Alex ordered.
As soon as Alex gave the signal, countless arrows flew across the sky, blocking the sun with their density.
The moment this barrage descended upon the army, the ants finally understood they were simply sitting ducks just waiting to be slaughtered.
Dying screeches reverberated throughout the battlefield as hundreds of ants died in that first volley.
Though their bodies were tough, it wasn’t tough enough to shrug off the bombardment from the elves.
The elven archers, who were all mounted on horses, began to retreat as the ants finally charged in their direction.
The flying ants dove down from the sky, but the elven mages were already waiting for them to approach.
"Kill them!" Alex ordered.
At his command, the mages unleashed their elemental spells against the flying ants that came within their strike range.
The vanguard then started to plant their shields firmly on the ground, while those behind them also placed their shields to stack on top of each other, forming a phalanx formation.

The frenzied ants didn’t care and simply charged at them like kamikaze fighters.
However, the moment they got to the fifty-meter mark from their nest, Nessia’s slaughterhouse activated.
Countless Fire Bullets unleashed a barrage at their nearest target, obliterating those at the front.
Since the ant army was numerous, the living only stepped over their dead brethren and continued their charge.
That was when the Fire Walls activated, incinerating those who were unlucky enough to step over them.
The elves witnessed this horrifying sight, feeling thankful that Nessia was on their side.
In fact, it wasn’t only them who thought this way.
Alex and his friends also shared this opinion.
In all of his hardest battles, Nessia had played a role. Every single time she got involved, he would successfully gain the upper hand.
His battle against one of the Elders of the Demon Worshipers, where he rescued Vaan.
His preparation in the Orion Dungeon, where undead monsters lurked.
And now, this battle against an ant army, where they were outnumbered four to one.
These were supposed to be hard battles, but because of Nessia’s expertise, Alex was able to overcome them all.
Even the formation that was being made in Everdawn City was also something Nessia had designed.
Though since she came with Alex, she left behind the blueprint to Chuck and the others, who would make the formation in her stead.
Soon, the smell of burned ants reached Alex’s senses, but he paid it no mind.
The dark smoke rose up to the sky, which also made the flying ants lose their sense of sight.
Since the mages were able to detect mana and life readings, the black smoke serving as a smokescreen didn’t stop them from hitting their targets with deadly precision.
The ants that finally managed to arrive at the first line of defense of the elves were still covered in flames.
Even so, they were already dying, so a single spear thrust from the formation ended their suffering.
After thousands of ants died without being able to fight back, the ground underneath the elven army’s feet trembled.
Alex suddenly had a bad premonition. However, before he could act on it, it was already too late.
Giant ants rose from the ground, right beneath the elven army’s formation.
Several elves were sent flying by this sudden turn of events.
Fortunately, the elven commanders were battle-hardened veterans and immediately gave the order.
"Fall back," the elven commander shouted. "If you can carry the wounded, carry them! Royal Knights, hold the rear!"
The Royal Knights, who were more powerful than regular soldiers, clashed against the ants that ambushed their formation at its center.
The last thing they wanted to happen was for their forces to be pincered from all sides, so retreat was their only option.
Alex and his friends helped fight against the ant army while the elves retreated.
It was then that Nessia sensed a familiar presence only dozens of meters away from her.
Covered from head to toe in black armor that seemed to be made out of ant chitin was none other than Charles.
At the moment, he was holding a sword in each hand that was emanating a deadly red glow, making him stand out from the chaos around him.
"Charles!" Nessia cried out, prompting Charles to look in her direction.
She couldn’t see his face. If anything, the only thing she could see were the eye sockets of the armor that suddenly glowed red.
A second later, Charles charged in Nessia’s direction with swords poised to strike.
Nessia found herself rooted on the spot, unable to run away. A part of her wanted to save her lover from the influence of the Synchronization Rate, and it froze her thoughts.
Soon, the sound of metals clashing against each other rang across the battlefield as Alex and Renard blocked Charles’ two swords from harming Nessia.
"You bastard, are you trying to kill your girlfriend?!" Alex roared angrily as he used his shield to bash Charles’ chest.
Renard, who blocked the sword with his gauntlet, also unleashed a punch towards Charles’ face out of anger.
He was a little shaken because he didn’t see or feel any hesitation coming from Charles when he tried to strike Nessia down.
Alex’s Shield Bash and Renard’s punch connected, sending Charles flying.
However, the armored black knight managed to land on his two feet, skidding several meters away before coming to a stop.
He then casually twirled his two swords, as if taunting Alex and Renard that he didn’t receive any damage from their combined attacks.
"This guy is pissing me off," Alex muttered.
"For once, we agree on something," Renard commented.
It was very rare for them to find common ground.
Still, both understood that this was an enemy that they had to fight with everything they had.
After all, that was the only way for them to even have a chance of winning against their friend, who was currently not in his right state of mind at the moment.
