Barely a second after they reappeared in the hotel room, the two impatient lovers picked up right where they left off.

Their lips collided in a searing, breathless kiss. Cedric’s hand roamed down to Aika’s hip, and a few seconds later, she leaped up, wrapping her legs tightly around his waist.

With his hands now cupping her ass, he moved and pressed her back against the wall, while Aika pulled him in even closer.

A few seconds later, they broke their kiss, and Aika immediately tilted her head to the side to expose the line of her throat. In the same instant, Cedric had already begun to rain hot, desperate kisses down her neck.

At the same time, his hands moved boldly to explore her. His left hand hooked beneath her thigh to hold her high against him, while his right hand roamed up her torso before cupping her breast.

’Everything about her is just so intoxicating,’ he thought.

As he touched her, he shot her a grin. "Impatient?"

"For you? Yes." She was beautiful like this while undone and desperate for him.

"Tell me again," he commanded as his hand slid down her body. His fingers dipped into her heat, finding her already slick and ready. "Tell me you’re obsessed with me."

Aika’s back arched as he stroked her, and his two fingers slid deep, curling to find the spot that made her see stars. "I am," she choked out, and her hips rolled to meet his hand. "I’m obsessed, Cedric. Completely. Now stop teasing and fuck me."

Inside her room, Audrey sat by the desk scribbling another letter to her sister.

"Dearest Aria,

"This makes ten. Ten letters written to the empty air. With every passing sunrise, my heart grows heavier when a reply does not arrive.

"Aria, where are you?

"Are you cold? Are you safe? Did you guys succeed, or did something go wrong?

"Every time I hear someone mention the red bridge, my heart stops. I am trying so hard not to lose my faith, but the wait is wearing me down to nothing.

"If you can read this, please, find a way to send even a single word back to me. Just a mark on a page so I know you are still breathing. Until then, I will keep writing. I will write a hundred more if I have to.

"Please come back to me.

"With all my love,

"Audrey."

Audrey finished writing and dropped the pen.

She stared at the letter for a moment in silence and her heart felt heavy. Her green eyes were bloodshot from a lack of proper sleep and constant worry.

After a while, she let out a long sigh.

She picked up the letter and rolled it tight, sliding it into a golden cylindrical container before capping it shut.

Adjusting her glasses, her gaze drifted toward the edge of her desk, landing on a small glass vase containing a single wilted rose.

"I should go practice my archery. I’ll probably feel better after that," she muttered softly to the empty room.

Although her aim was perfect due to her attribute, Audrey had been practicing a lot lately. She couldn’t tell if she was really practicing or if it was just to distract herself from the oppressive silence.

She also couldn’t feel the blisters on her fingertips anymore.

The chair groaned as she stood up and walked out of the room, shutting the door behind her.

As she began walking down the long hallway, she saw two girls approaching, heading toward the room behind hers. One of the girls held a newspaper, speaking in low tones to her companion.

Audrey noticed the grim expressions on their faces. But since she was not one to start a conversation due to her nature, she lowered her head and kept walking.

Just then, however, the brunette girl with blue eyes turned her attention to her. "Hey, Audrey. Did you see this?"

Audrey paused as the girl held out the folded paper.

"They’re saying the red bridge fully matured and opened up somewhere inside the Florentian Empire. According to the latest reports, everyone assumes the entire expedition force for the eclipse is dead, as all communication has gone completely cold."

When Audrey heard that, her eyes widened in horror as her heart sank. She immediately reached out and snatched the paper from the girl’s hands. As she read the bold headline, her body trembled violently and her grip crumpled the paper’s edges.
